About

When one hears the word “Fillmore” we immediately harken back to that time in American 20th Century music history when concert promoters like Bill Graham and Chet Helms introduced a new age generation to a talent roster full of diverse artists crossing all spectrums of style and poetic license. Spread by the pioneers of pirate FM radio and stereo vinyl records, these melodies, textures and messages would go on to influence an entire world during the 60s and 70s and eventually help stop a war and tear down the Berlin wall.

The counter-culture flower-power movement was no joke and was a major factor in shaping our society and influencing politics for decades, This is still going on today heard in the lyrics on classic rock radio broadcast formats and a still very successful classic rock concert touring industry.

After having been a part of this musical renaissance for over forty-three years as a current member of the Steve Miller Band, Kenny Lee Lewis decided to create a tribute to this legacy and golden era of classic rock music. Calling on his veteran musician sidemen friends and special guest artists, Kenny Lee has assembled celebrity players and singers to perform the music featured at the Fillmore auditoriums and other venues like Winterland and the Family Dog in the San Francisco during that magical time.

Bandmembers featured in the Fillmore Tribute show are selected for having played or recorded with the very bands and artists who performed at the Fillmore auditoriums before closing in 1971. The members of this tribute share stories with the audience of those experiences throughout the show which adds a special treat transporting the listener inside a time machine back to those times and peeking in backstage.

When available, a multimedia video slideshow is projected in back of the band showing the amazing hand-drawn posters, light shows and artists who were featured at the Fillmore at that time. The audience will be emersed into another time and place when music, lights, art, sound, and of course that connection that only live music can create. Peace, love, change, equality, musical diversity, escape, dance, fantasy and fond memories are what are etched onto the tapestry of mind after seeing this show. Wearing love beads and tie-dye is optional.
